Use the tool above to size a production chain before you build it. Enter one row per production step, name a target item and a target output rate, and the calculator works backwards through the chain to tell you what each step must produce and how many stations it needs.

Everything you type is stored in your own browser, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Why this calculator ships with no game data

Graveyard Keeper 2 has not launched, and no recipe, cycle time or output value has been published by Lazy Bear Games or tinyBuild. Rather than invent numbers, the tool asks you to supply them — which means it stays correct through every patch, and it means you can start using it the moment you have real in-game values.

When verified recipe data exists, it will be published on the recipes page and you can paste it straight in.

How to use it

  1. Add a step for every stage of the chain. Start with the raw material processors and finish with the item you actually want.
  2. Fill in output item, output quantity, and cycle time in seconds. Time the cycle yourself in game — do not estimate it.
  3. Enter inputs using the format Item:Quantity, separated by commas. For example Plank:2, Iron Nail:4. Item x2 and Item 2 also work. An entry with no number counts as 1.
  4. Pick the target item and the target output rate per minute.
  5. Read the plan. Each row shows the required output rate for that step and how many stations you need to hit it.

How the maths works

It is a straightforward backwards pass, and knowing it helps you trust the result.

Starting from your target rate, the calculator pushes demand upstream: for each step, the required output rate of that step becomes demand on each of its inputs, scaled by the input quantity divided by the output quantity. It repeats that pass until the numbers stop changing, which handles chains of any depth.

Stations needed is then ceil(required output rate ÷ output quantity × cycle time ÷ 60). In plain terms: how many copies of that station you need running to produce that much per minute.

Raw materials are any item with demand but no producing step — the things you have to gather or buy rather than make.

Reading the result properly

Three checks turn the output into a decision:

  • Look at the largest station count. That is your bottleneck, and it is where your best zombies should go. See the zombie workers guide.
  • Compare the raw material bill to what you can actually gather. If the top raw input exceeds your daily harvest, the chain is not affordable yet. Cross-check against the resource locations guide.
  • Remember the Town can substitute for gathering. Restored Town buildings unlock products and resources you can buy, so a missing input is not always a production problem — see town restoration.

Continuous rate versus one-off crafting

Use this tool when you want a chain that keeps producing — a line that supplies the Town or equips your army continuously.

If you just want to know what one crafting goal costs in total materials, use the recipe calculator instead. It expands a single target into a full raw material list and handles the rounding from partial batches.

FAQ

Does this contain official Graveyard Keeper 2 recipe data?

No. The game launches on September 22, 2026 and no recipe values have been published. The tool uses the numbers you enter.

Is my data saved?

It is stored in your browser's local storage on this device only. Nothing is sent to a server, and clearing your browser data clears the tool.

Why is my station count zero?

That step has no demand, which usually means the target item is upstream of it, or a step name does not match what a later step consumes. Names must match exactly, ignoring case and surrounding spaces.

Can I use this for other games?

Yes — that is the point. It is a generic production chain planner with no game-specific assumptions.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no signup, no tracking.
